Community Development Planning
ADA Transition Plans
Community Opportunities Group, Inc., in partnership with Kessler McGuinness & Associates, LLC (KMA), have assisted the City of Amesbury, the Towns of Bolton, Chester, Huntington, Middlefield, Russell, Hopedale, Bellingham, and Leicester, MA, and Stafford, CT in completing Section 504 Self-Evaluation and ADA Transition Plans. ADA Transition Plans identify barriers that are physical or otherwise within in facilities, programs, policies, and practices that prevent persons with disabilities from accessing services or facilities. As a nationally known firm specializing in universal design, KMA leads efforts to audit all municipal facilities including town/city halls, fire stations, police stations, parks, voting stations, and recreation facilities to identify physical barriers and cost estimates as part of the plan; COG conducts the Self-Evaluation process and audits municipal programs, regulations, and policies to ensure equitable access for all participants. These actions inform the development of the Transition Plan, which identifies barriers, prioritizes necessary modifications, and establishes a timeline and responsible party for the completion of modifications to provide access.
